The EBA is currently seeking a Bank Sector Analyst to support its risk analysis activities, with a focus on stress testing methodologies. This role is crucial for developing and maintaining robust risk assessment frameworks, including early warning systems and thematic risk analyses.

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the Bank Sector Analyst position is to contribute to the EBA’s risk analysis and the development of quantitative tools for risk monitoring, particularly in the context of stress testing.

Main Responsibilities

• Leading specific work streams in the development of risk assessment frameworks, including stress testing methodologies and early warning systems.
• Conducting ongoing risk assessments and thematic risk analyses.
• Enhancing the EBA’s capacity to utilize supervisory data and other information sources.
• Providing briefings for EBA representatives at meetings with external stakeholders.
• Supporting working groups within and outside the EBA structure.
• Collaborating with EIOPA, ESMA, ESRB, and other international bodies.

Requirements

1. Eligibility Criteria

• Language Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken), and satisfactory knowledge of another EU language.
• Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
• Citizenship Rights: Must have full rights as a citizen.
• Military Service: Must have fulfilled any applicable military service obligations.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit for the role.
• Criminal Record: Must provide a certificate confirming no criminal record.
• Medical Examination: Must undergo a medical examination as per EU regulations.

2. Qualifications and Experience

• Education: A university diploma (equivalent to at least three years of study) with at least one year of professional experience, or a four-year university diploma with no additional experience required.
• Professional Experience: At least 7 years (for 3-year degree) or 6 years (for 4-year degree) of full-time professional experience in banking, financial system analysis, or related fields.
• Accepted Qualifications: Must be from EU or EEA authorities or recognized as equivalent.

3. Selection Criteria

• Stress Testing Experience: Proven experience in developing stress testing methodologies, including top-down approaches.
• Financial System Analysis: Experience in analyzing the banking sector and financial systems.
• Report Writing: Ability to design and draft reports on banking sector risks.
• Communication Skills: Proven experience in drafting papers, memos, and briefings.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Advantageous Skills: Knowledge of statistical and econometric software is beneficial.

Selection Procedure

Appointment and Employment Conditions

• Contract Type: Temporary fixed-term contract of three years, with a nine-month probation period and potential extension.
• Start Date: Expected to start on 1 March 2013.
• Grade: AD 7. Estimated monthly basic salary: €5,568.11.
