The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU authority established in 2011 by Regulation (EC) No. 1093/2010. The EBA is currently seeking a Bank Sector Analyst on secondment to support its risk assessment activities in the EU banking sector. This role is crucial for monitoring financial markets, collecting and analyzing market research, and producing regular risk reports to inform the EBA’s risk assessments and dashboards.
Main Purpose
To support the EBA’s risk assessment efforts, with a focus on gathering and analyzing market information and intelligence.
Main Responsibilities
- Strengthen the EBA’s capacity to assess risks in banks and across the EU banking sector using market data and information.
- Monitor, collect, and examine market research and analyses to improve the quality of input materials for risk assessments.
- Engage with bank analysts, investors, and market participants to build a comprehensive understanding of risks.
- Produce regular risk reports that contribute to the EBA’s overall risk assessment activities.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Language: Proficiency in one EU language and satisfactory knowledge in another.
- Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, an EFTA Member State, or a country with which the Council has opened accession negotiations.
- Citizenship Rights: Must be entitled to full rights as a citizen.
2. Qualifications
- Completed university studies of at least three years, as evidenced by a diploma.
3. Professional Experience
- At least five years of full-time professional experience in banking supervision.
4. Language Skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of other EU official languages is an advantage.
5. Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in using market data for drafting risk reports.
- Experience in monitoring, collecting, and examining market research.
- Experience in designing and drafting reports on banking sector risks.
- Experience in engaging with bank analysts, investors, and market participants.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for senior management.
- Good drafting skills.

Appointment and Conditions
- The position is a secondment from a national supervisory authority for 2 years, renewable.
- The home authority remains the employer during the secondment.
- The candidate must have worked for at least 12 months in a permanent or contractual capacity before the secondment.
- The home authority must continue to pay the candidate’s salary and maintain social rights, including social security and pension.
Secondment Allowances
- The EBA will provide daily and monthly subsistence allowances, set annually by the Commission.

- The EBA offices in London, United Kingdom.

- Note: The Civil Service Tribunal does not review decisions unless procedural rules are infringed.
