The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU authority established on 1 January 2011 under Regulation (EC) No. 1093/2010. Main Responsibilities
The Policy Expert on secondment in the area of crisis management will:
- Prepare policy stances and provide policy advice in crisis management.
- Contribute to the development of guidelines and binding technical standards as part of the EU common rulebook.
- Support internal committees and subgroups, including their chairpersons.
- Ensure the timely and high-quality completion of guidelines and standards.
- Represent the EBA externally at a technical level in crisis management-related areas.
- Facilitate external consultations, implementation studies, training, and impact assessments.
- Cooperate with other ESAs and the ESRB to develop coordinated and possibly joint policy stances.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a national of an EU Member State, an EFTA Member State, or a country with which the EU has opened accession negotiations.
- Must have full citizen rights.
- Must have thorough knowledge of one EU language and satisfactory knowledge of another.
- Must have a university degree of at least three years and at least six years of full-time professional experience in bank regulation, supervision, or banking operations.
2. Selection Criteria
- Proven knowledge of EU banking regulation and its application in crisis management.
- Experience in drafting policy stances and regulations.
- Ability to present information and updates to management on regulatory developments.
- Experience in engaging with stakeholders in the EU legislative process.
- Professional experience in regulation, supervision, or banking operations.
3. Additional Qualities
- Experience in an EU, multicultural, or international environment.
- Ability to manage workload independently.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn quickly.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work efficiently under time pressure.
Appointment and Secondment Conditions
- The position is a secondment from a national supervisory authority or an IGO (International Governmental Organisation).
- The secondment period ranges from a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years, renewable.
- The home authority remains the employer during the secondment and is responsible for salary and social rights.
- The expected starting date is as soon as possible.
Conditions of Secondment
- The EBA will provide daily and monthly subsistence allowances, determined annually by the Commission.

- The position is based at the EBA offices in London, United Kingdom.
