The EBA is currently seeking a Policy Expert (Crisis Management) to be based in its London office. The position is open to nationals of EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, and requires a strong background in EU banking regulation and crisis management.
Main Purpose
To provide expert support in the development of EBA policy and regulatory tasks related to crisis management, structural measures, and shadow banking. The expert will contribute to shaping EU regulatory frameworks and ensure their consistent application across member states.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare policy stances and provide expert advice in crisis management.
- Develop guidelines and binding technical standards.
- Support internal committees and subgroups.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of regulatory outputs.
- Represent the EBA externally in technical discussions.
- Facilitate external consultations, training, and impact assessments.
- Cooperate with other ESAs and the ESRB for coordinated policy development.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Head of the RRR Policy Unit or the Director of Regulation Department.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Language Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of English, and satisfactory knowledge of another EU language.
- Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Legal Rights: Full rights as a citizen, with no criminal record.
- Military Service: Obligations met.
- Health: Physically fit for the role.
2. Qualifications
- A university degree with a diploma, and at least 1 year of professional experience if the normal period of study is 3 years.
- Or a university degree with no professional experience required if the normal period of study is 4 years or more.
- Qualifications must be recognized by EU or EEA authorities, or equivalent.
- If obtained outside the EU, must be recognized by a designated body (e.g., a national Ministry of Education).
3. Professional Experience
- At least 10 years (for a 3-year degree) or 9 years (for a 4-year degree) of relevant full-time professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a comparable role in financial regulation or supervision.
- Experience is counted from the date of obtaining the required diploma.
4. Language Skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken).
- Native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in a second EU language.

Selection Procedure

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract Type: Temporary fixed-term contract of 3 years, with a probation period of 9 months and possible extension.

- Salary: Estimated monthly basic salary of €6,299.95 (subject to correction coefficient of 39.2%).
