Main Purpose
The primary objective of the Junior Bank Expert position is to support the Home-Host Coordination Unit in monitoring supervisory colleges of major cross-border banking groups and promoting the crisis management framework in the EU. The role also involves facilitating the effective implementation of recovery and resolution planning across the European banking system and developing robust procedures for emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the home-host coordination work of the EBA, including participation in supervisory colleges.
- Providing feedback and guidance to competent authorities and developing tools for efficient functioning of colleges and crisis management legislation.
- Monitoring policy developments related to crisis management.
- Assisting National Supervisory Authorities (NSAs) in implementing crisis management legislation and best practices.
- Preparing and coordinating good practices for crisis management planning.
- Facilitating briefings for the EBA representation in meetings with external stakeholders.
- Collaborating with other ESAs, ESRB, and international bodies on crisis management coordination.
- Performing other tasks as required.
Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements
- Fluent in one EU language and satisfactory knowledge in another.
- National of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Entitled to full citizen rights.
- Has fulfilled military service obligations.
- Physically fit for the role.
Specific Requirements
- A university degree (at least three years of study).
- At least three years of relevant full-time professional experience in banking, supervision, or related fields.
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of other EU official languages is an advantage.
Selection Criteria
- Proven knowledge of EU banking regulation, especially regarding cross-border supervision.
- Experience in supervising cross-border banking groups and supervisory colleges.
- Good understanding of risk assessment systems and their implementation.
- Familiarity with main regulations affecting credit institution supervision.
- Ability to provide information and presentations on regulatory developments.
- Experience in recovery and resolution planning is an advantage.

Selection Procedure
The selection process includes:
- Establishing a selection committee.

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract Type: Temporary fixed-term contract of three years, with a six-month probation period and possible extension.
- Starting Date: Expected to be 1 April or 1 May 2013.
- Grade: AD 5.
- Estimated Monthly Salary: €4,349.59 (excluding national taxes).

- Correction coefficient of 34.4% applicable to UK staff.
