Main Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant will be responsible for:
- Managing the EBA’s web activities, including content creation, editing, and updating.
- Supporting the publications cycle for all EBA outputs, both online and printed.
- Leading the production and gatekeeping of publications, managing the publication calendar, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Drafting guidelines and defining processes for online and printed communications.
- Managing the budget related to communication activities.
- Contributing to the strategic development of the EBA’s website, intranet, and extranet.
- Enhancing CMS (Content Management System) publishing processes.
- Administering public email boxes and handling related inquiries.
- Providing regular web metrics reporting and analysis.
- Performing other organisational and administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Must be entitled to full citizen rights and have fulfilled any military service obligations.
- Must be physically fit for the role.
- Must provide a certificate of no criminal record and undergo a medical examination.
Qualifications
- Must have a university degree in communications or international relations (minimum 3 years).
- Qualifications must be recognized by EU or EEA authorities or equivalent.
Professional Experience
- At least 3 years of full-time professional experience in online communications.
- Experience in maintaining intranet and extranet services.
- Proficiency in HTML, CMSs, Excel, Photoshop, Acrobat, and other internet-related tools.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Language Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken).
- Native English speakers must demonstrate second language proficiency.
- Knowledge of other EU official languages is advantageous.

- Strong knowledge and experience in online and web communication principles and practices.
- Advanced understanding of web usability and information architecture.

Selection Procedure
- A selection committee will evaluate applications based on CV, motivation letter, and eligibility criteria grid.

- Interviews: Total score of 10, with a minimum of 6 points required to pass.

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract type: Fixed-term agent contract for 3 years, with a probation period of 9 months and possible extension.
- Estimated start date: 16 May or 1 June 2014.
- Function group: Group IV.
- Estimated monthly basic salary: €3,145.45.
- Employment benefits include:
- Exemption from national tax; Community tax at source applies.
- Correction coefficient: 39.2% for the UK.
- Allowances: Expatriation, household, child, education, installation, and removal cost reimbursement (based on family situation and origin).
- Annual leave: 2 days per calendar month, plus 2.5 days of supplementary home leave for those receiving expatriation or foreign residence allowance.
- Pension scheme: EU Pension Scheme after 10 years of service.
- Insurance coverage: EU Joint Sickness and Insurance Scheme, accident, occupational disease, unemployment, and invalidity insurance.
- Travel insurance: Provided for missions.

- Appeals must be submitted within 3 months of being notified of the decision.
- The European Union Civil Service Tribunal is the designated body for appeals.
- Appeals to the European Ombudsman must be preceded by administrative approaches to the relevant institution.
