Overview
The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU authority established on 1 January 2011 by Regulation (EC) No. 1093/2010. Policy Expert Position (Credit Risk)
The EBA is currently seeking a Policy Expert to contribute to its regulatory efforts in the area of credit risk. The role involves:
- Drafting reports and developing guidelines and binding technical standards in accordance with the EU common rulebook.
- Contributing to the development of EBA policy stances both within the EU and internationally.
- Representing the EBA externally in credit risk-related technical matters.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyzing credit risk-related topics and contributing to the development of reports.
- Preparing policy stances and providing policy advice on credit risk and its prudential regulation.
- Supporting internal committees and subgroups, including assisting their chairpersons.
- Developing and ensuring timely completion of guidelines and technical standards.
- Facilitating external consultations, implementation studies, training, and impact assessments.
- Representing the EBA externally on a technical level in credit risk matters.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Must have completed university studies (at least three years) and at least one year of relevant professional experience, or four years of university studies with no additional professional experience required.
- Must have excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken).
- Must have a satisfactory knowledge of another EU language.
- Must be physically fit and have no criminal record.
- Must have fulfilled any applicable military service obligations.

- Proven knowledge of economics and statistical research in banking and financial matters.
- Proven experience in credit risk.
- Proven drafting skills in report and regulatory product development.
- Ability to provide information and give presentations to management on regulatory developments.
- Good understanding of EU banking regulation.
- Ability to manage workload independently and work efficiently under time pressure.
- Flexibility and a fast learning ability.
- Strong communication and drafting skills.
- Good team-player with strong interpersonal skills.

Selection Procedure
- A selection committee will review applications (CV, motivation letter, and eligibility criteria grid) and establish a shortlist.
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited to written tests and interviews, both conducted in English.
- Written tests will assess written communication, job-related knowledge, and drafting skills. Minimum score: 6 out of 10.
- Interviews will evaluate the candidate’s suitability, professional knowledge, and motivation. Minimum score: 6 out of 10.
- Successful candidates will be ranked by merit, with the highest scorers being recruited. Candidates scoring 12 or above will be placed on a reserve list valid until 31 December 2014.
Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract Type: Temporary agent fixed-term contract, 3 years with a 6-month probation period, potentially extendable.
- Starting Date: Expected to be 1 December 2013.
- Grade: AD 6.
- Estimated Monthly Salary: €4,921.28 (basic salary, tax-exempt with Community tax at source).
