Overview

Job Description: Junior Policy Expert (Credit and Market Risk with a Quantitative Focus)
The role involves contributing to the EBA's regulatory efforts in the area of market and credit risk. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing policy stances and providing policy advice
- Conducting statistical and econometric analysis
- Producing tables and charts for reports
- Assisting other policy experts with analytical support
- Supporting internal committees and subgroups
- Ensuring timely completion of guidelines and technical standards
- Externally representing the EBA in technical discussions
- Facilitating external consultations, training, and impact assessments
Main Responsibilities
- Data Processing: Generating and processing data from internal and public databases
- Analysis: Performing statistical and econometric analysis
- Reporting: Producing visual and tabular data for reports
- Collaboration: Assisting other experts and participating in internal discussions
- Guidelines Development: Supporting the drafting of guidelines and technical standards
- External Engagement: Representing the EBA in international fora and external consultations
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway
- Must be entitled to full citizen rights
- Must have fulfilled any military service obligations
- Must be physically fit
- Must provide a certificate of no criminal record and undergo a medical examination
2. Qualifications
- Must have a university degree in econometrics, business, economics, or a related field
- Must have at least 1–2 years of relevant full-time professional experience
3. Language Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of other EU official languages is an advantage
4. Selection Criteria
- Experience in working with databases
- Proficiency in statistical software (SAS, STATA, MATLAB)
- Proven experience in credit and/or market risk analysis in banking operations
- Ability to communicate regulatory developments to management
- Experience in an EU/multicultural/international environment
- Knowledge of EU banking regulation
- Self-management and ability to work independently
- Flexibility and fast learning ability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure

Selection Procedure

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract: Temporary agent fixed-term contract for 3 years with a 6-month probation period, possible extension
- Starting Date: Expected 1 March 2013
- Grade: AD 5
- Salary: Estimated monthly basic salary of €4349.59
