Main Purpose
The main purpose of the Statistician role is to contribute to the development and maintenance of the EBA's databases and risk analysis tools, supporting the institution's mission of ensuring a stable and transparent financial system.
Main Responsibilities
- Improve the quality of data input for risk assessment and dashboards
- Promote the development and maintenance of EBA databases
- Coordinate surveys and data collections, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and comparability
- Develop IT solutions for bank analysis, risk assessment, and early warning systems
- Prepare reports with statistical analyses using advanced techniques
- Support other oversight activities, including systemic risk assessment and stress testing
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Proficiency in at least one EU language and satisfactory knowledge in another
- Nationality of an EU Member State or EEA country
- Full citizen rights, no criminal record, and physical fitness for the role
- At least three years of higher education (minimum three years of university studies)
- Recognition of qualifications by EU or EEA authorities or equivalent
- If studying abroad, the qualification must be recognized by an EU/EEA authority
2. Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience
- At least 2 years in banking regulation or supervision
- Experience is counted from the date of diploma award to the application deadline
3. Language Skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
- Native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in a second EU language
4. Selection Criteria
- Extensive knowledge of statistical theory and techniques applied to banking and financial data
- Proficiency in MS Office and VBA
- Competence in statistical software (especially SAS)
- Advantageous skills include experience in banking supervision and knowledge of accounting or supervisory standards

Selection Procedure
The selection process includes:
- Selection Committee: Composed of members, with shortlisted candidates invited for written tests and interviews

- Reserve List: Candidates scoring 12 or above are placed on a reserve list valid until 31/12/2016, which may be renewed
