Main Responsibilities
- Prepare policy documents and provide advice on retail banking matters.
- Conduct desk-based research on market trends and consumer interactions.
- Support EBA committees and subgroups, especially the Standing Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation (SCConFin).
- Ensure timely completion of guidelines, recommendations, and technical standards.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including firms, trade associations, and consumer groups.
- Represent the EBA externally in technical matters.
- Develop industry training standards, common disclosure rules, and financial literacy programs.
- Collaborate with ESMA and EIOPA to coordinate regulatory policies.
Key Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Language: Proficiency in at least two EU languages.
- Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Citizenship Rights: Full rights as a citizen.
- Military Service: Compliance with applicable laws.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform duties.
- Criminal Record: Certificate of no criminal record required.
- Medical Examination: To meet EU employment standards.
2. Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of university education in business, economics, marketing, sociology, law, or related fields.
- Qualifications must be recognized by EU or EEA authorities, or equivalent.
3. Professional Experience
- At least 8 years of full-time professional experience, with 4 years in retail banking.
- Experience can include roles as an industry professional, regulator, researcher, consumer advisor, or lobbyist.
4. Language Skills
- Excellent English (written and spoken).
- Native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in a second EU language.
5. Selection Criteria
- Professional experience in retail banking, especially in mortgages, personal loans, savings, current accounts, credit/debit cards, and payment services.
- Knowledge of consumer detriment and its drivers (e.g., misleading information, unsuitable advice).
- Experience in drafting policy documents for various audiences.
- Familiarity with relevant EU and national regulations, such as the Mortgage Credit Directive, Payment Services Directive, and Distance Selling Directive.

Selection Procedure

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract type: Fixed-term agent contract for 3 years, with a probation period of 9 months and possible extension.

- Salary: Estimated monthly basic salary of €3,145.45.

Appeal Procedure
