The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU authority established in 2011 by Regulation (EC) No. 1093/2010 and amended by Regulation (EU) No 1022/2013. It operates as part of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) and collaborates closely with other EU financial regulators such as EIOPA and ESMA. The EBA is currently seeking a Policy Expert with a quantitative background to join its Credit, Market and Operational Risk Policy Unit in London.
Main Responsibilities
- Participation in Working Groups: Engage in EBA working groups and represent the EBA at a technical level.
- Quantitative Support: Provide quantitative and economic analysis to support the EBA's regulatory activities in market risk, market infrastructure, and OTC derivatives.
- External Consultations: Facilitate external consultations, implementation studies, training, and impact assessments for guidelines and technical standards.
- Administrative Support: Offer administrative assistance when needed.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as required by the Head of the Credit, Market and Operational Risk Policy Unit.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria

Language Proficiency: Thorough knowledge of one EU language and satisfactory knowledge of another.

Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.

Citizenship Rights: Full rights as a citizen.

Military Service: Completed any applicable military service obligations.

Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to perform the duties.

Education: At least three years of university-level education in economics, business administration, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.

Recognition of Qualifications: Must be recognized by EU or EEA authorities or deemed equivalent by them.

Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of full-time professional experience in bank regulation, supervision, or similar roles in the banking sector.

Language Skills: Excellent English proficiency (written and spoken). Native English speakers must prove second language skills.

Applied Financial Theory: Proven understanding of applied financial theory.

Technical Writing: Experience in drafting technical reports, policies, and regulations.

Selection Procedure

Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract Type: Temporary fixed-term contract of three years, with a nine-month probation period and possible extension.
- Start Date: Expected to start on 16 September 2014.
- Grade: AD 6.
- Salary: Estimated monthly basic salary of €4960.64 (tax-exempt, with Community tax at source).
- Benefits: Includes expatriation allowance, household allowance, dependent child allowance, education allowance, and others based on family and origin.
- Leave: 2 days of annual leave per calendar month, plus supplementary home leave.
- Insurance: Coverage under the EU Pension Scheme, sickness and accident insurance, unemployment and invalidity allowance, and travel insurance for missions.
