报告摘要
Summary of India's 2035 Climate Target Report
This report examines India's climate transition and business opportunities emerging from its 2035 NDC target. India has shown strong progress in reducing GDP emission intensity and expanding renewable energy capacity, while also advancing carbon sink development. Businesses across sectors, such as power, industry, transport, and biodiversity, are actively adopting climate-friendly measures, with many companies setting ambitious goals and investing in renewable energy and electrification.
Key recommendations to enhance India's 2035 NDC include:
- Integrate Technological Progress and Corporate Ambition: Update the NDC to reflect advancements in clean technologies, set ambitious sector-specific targets, and align policies with net-zero goals to attract investment.
- Implement Clear Sector-Specific Policies: Focus on power grid integration for renewables, decarbonization in industry through policy support, EV adoption with ZEV targets, and biodiversity conservation with measurable land and ecosystem restoration goals.
- Strengthen Government-Business Collaboration: Foster co-creation platforms, address implementation barriers, and leverage international partnerships to mobilize private finance and accelerate transition.
The 2035 NDC can position India as a global leader in sustainable development, creating economic opportunities and enhancing energy security. TERI and We Mean Business Coalition highlight the need for a strategic approach to navigate challenges and capitalize on business-driven innovation.
