The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU authority established in 2011 under Regulation (EC) No. 1093/2010, with further amendments in 2013. Main Responsibilities
The Event Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Providing operational support in the planning, organisation, coordination, and hosting of various events (conferences, meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.).
- Managing the budget, including administration, monitoring, and forecasting.
- Handling financial transactions related to event organisation.
- Setting up and managing registration pages on the EBA website.
- Verifying and confirming registrations, as well as managing refunds.
- Organising meeting rooms and ensuring technical and catering support.
- Ensuring participant satisfaction on event days.
- Coordinating with other colleagues involved in event preparation.
- Managing relationships with external suppliers.
- Ensuring the successful completion of tenders for event-related goods and services.
- Performing other organisational and administrative tasks as required.
Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Language Skills: Thorough knowledge of one EU language and satisfactory knowledge of another.
- Nationality: Must be a national of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
- Criminal Record: Must provide a certificate of no criminal record.
- Medical Fitness: Must undergo a medical examination.
- Education: Either a post-secondary education diploma or a secondary education diploma with access to post-secondary education, along with appropriate professional experience.
2. Professional Experience
- 3 years of full-time professional experience if holding a post-secondary education diploma.
- 6 years of full-time professional experience if holding a secondary education diploma.
- At least 2 years in a comparable position.
3. Language Skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken).
- Native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in a second EU language.
4. Selection Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate:
- Proven experience in event organisation and coordination.
- Experience in administrative support for events.
- Experience in handling financial transactions related to events.
- Strong IT skills in MS Office and Outlook.
- Experience in an international work environment.

Selection Procedure
- A selection committee will evaluate applications (CV, motivation letter, and eligibility grid) and establish a shortlist.
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for written tests and interviews, both conducted in English.
- Written Test: Out of 10, minimum score of 6 required.
- Interview: Out of 10, minimum score of 6 required.
- Successful candidates will be listed in order of merit, with the highest scorers being recruited. Those scoring 12 or above will be placed on a reserve list valid until 31 December 2014. Note that inclusion in the reserve list does not guarantee recruitment.
- The selection process is strictly confidential, and contact with committee members is prohibited.
Appointment and Employment Conditions
- Contract Type: Fixed-term agent contract of 3 years with a 9-month probation period, possibly extendable.
- Starting Date: Expected to start on 1 March 2014.
- Function Group and Grade: FG III.
- Estimated Salary: €2,457.08 per month (basic salary, exempt from national tax, with Community tax at source).
- Benefits: Includes expatriation, household, and dependent child allowances, education and installation allowances, and reimbursement of removal costs. Additional benefits include annual leave, pension scheme, sickness and accident insurance, unemployment and invalidity allowance, and travel insurance.

Appeal Procedure
- Complaint to Selection Committee: Can be submitted within 3 months of notification to the Executive Director at the EBA offices in London.
- Judicial Appeal to EU Civil Service Tribunal: Available under Article 270 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU and Article 91 of the Staff Regulations. The Tribunal is located in Luxembourg.
- Complaint to European Ombudsman: Can be submitted under Article 195(1) of the Treaty establishing the European Community. The Ombudsman is based in Strasbourg, France.
- Important Note: Appeals to the Tribunal or Ombudsman do not suspend the time limits for lodging complaints. Also, complaints to the Ombudsman must first be submitted to the relevant institution.
