Key Information

Main Purpose of the Role
The Expert will contribute to:
- Enhancing the single rulebook in AML/CFT.
- Developing technical standards, guidelines, opinions, and reports.
- Fostering supervisory convergence and reviewing risk-based approaches.
- Supporting national competent authorities in their implementation of AML/CFT guidelines.
- Representing the EBA externally in technical matters.
- Facilitating consultations, training, and impact assessments.
- Collaborating with other European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs), including EIOPA and ESMA.
Main Responsibilities
- Preparing policy stances and providing policy advice.
- Conducting on-site and off-site reviews of national AML/CFT supervisory approaches.
- Supporting investigations into breaches of Union law.
- Participating in internal committees and subgroups.
- Drafting deliverables that are methodologically robust, transparent, and agreed by national authorities.
- Enhancing cooperation between AML/CFT and prudential authorities.
- Exploring synergies with EBA work on governance, internal control, and FinTech regulation.
Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements
- Must be a national of an EU Member State or EEA country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway).
- Must have full citizen rights.
- Must have fulfilled military service obligations.
- Must have thorough knowledge of one EU official language and satisfactory knowledge of another.
- Must be physically fit for the role.
Specific Requirements

Education: Completed university studies (minimum 3 years).

Professional Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience, with 2 years in one of the following areas:
- AML/CFT consulting, compliance, internal policy development, or risk assessment in the private sector.
- AML/CFT policy development, supervision, or enforcement in the public sector.
- Participation in FATF, MoneyVal, or similar evaluations.

Language Skills: Excellent knowledge of English is required. Native English speakers must demonstrate second language proficiency.
Selection Criteria
- Proven knowledge of EU AML/CFT regulation and EBA requirements.
- Experience in applying AML/CFT requirements in consulting, compliance, or supervisory roles.
- Experience in drafting policy documents in English.
- Experience in dealing with stakeholders such as legislators, supervisors, and financial institutions.
Advantageous to have AML/CFT experience in more than one country.

Conditions of Employment
- Contract type: Temporary Agent (fixed-term) with a probation period of 9 months.
