报告摘要
Monthly Oil & Gas Data Review Summary - February 2023
Oil Overview:
- Oil Demand Climb: Global oil demand, particularly in Japan, Indonesia, and Korea, increased, pushed to an all-time high (+1.3 million barrels per day) above both pre-pandemic seasonal and COVID-19 levels.
- Production Decline: Global crude production fell for the month, registering a 274 kb/d decline (to a five-month low), primarily due to declines in the United States and United Kingdom.
- Saudi Activity: Despite a small decline in domestic production (-33 kb/d), Saudi crude exports increased by 157 kb/d to 7.44 million barrels per day.
- Crude Stock Status: Crude and refined products inventories increased both month-over-month and just below the seasonal average for December, reaching 354 million barrels below the five-year inventory average level. The stock condition remains constrained relative to previous years.
Gas Overview:
- Gas Production and Imports: Natural gas production slightly fell month-over-month, while Europe's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports reached new record highs.
- Inventory Situation: Gas inventories fell as demand was comparatively low, exiting the month at 85% of seasonal highs for the EU+UK region. Total gas stock levels across the included countries decreased but remain near seasonal highs.
Data Sources and Reporting Notes:
- Databases were updated in February 2023 primarily with December 2022 data.
- For oil, crude demand showed significant recovery from historical patterns; liquid fuels (gasoline, diesel) were above 2019 levels but year-on-year declines were noted; fuel oil demand was below average for the first time since February 2022; low-sulfur fuel and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) demands were solid, near seasonal highs; jet fuel demand remained significantly lower than 2019 levels.
- In the gas sector, usage remained near seasonal lows, particularly in EU+UK and across Europe during December, supporting the inventory build near the end of the period.
- Country-level production data consistently from 2017 is used where available. Notable first-month-of-data-included reports for Russia (November) drove capitalizations of its production and inventory levels; however, these differ from both baseline and renewable period assessments.
