Jordan 2009 Global Youth Tobacco Survey Summary

• Survey Overview: The study involved 2,064 students aged 13-15 from grades 7-9, with a response rate of 90.3%. It used a two-stage cluster sampling design, focusing on ever cigarette use and other tobacco determinants.
• Tobacco Use Prevalence: Ever smoked cigarettes: 25.2% overall (boys 34.8%, girls 17.8%); currently used any tobacco product: 26.1% (boys 34.1%, girls 19.4%); never smokers likely to initiate: 23.7%.
• Cigarette-Specific Usage: 11.5% currently smoke cigarettes; 20.7% currently smoke shisha; 22.1% use other tobacco products.
