Report from the WHO Collaborating Centre for Drug Statistics Methodology
Dr. Mohammad Nouri Sharikabad reported updates on ATC/DDD training, capacity building, and classification activities.
ATC Classification Items
The Working Group made decisions on various ATC code matters:
- Established new 4th and 5th level codes for substances like sparsentan, isocitrate dehydrogenase inhibitors (e.g., enasidenib), and updates for antibiotic combinations and vamorolone.
- Maintained previous decisions on the classification of efanesoctocog alfa, sodium thiosulfate, and others.
- Addressed delegations to avoid assigning ATC codes for substances whose use is not well established.
Defined Daily Dose Items
- Approved the rationale and approach for new DDD derivations.
- Assigned DDDs for nine new single substances and five combination products.
- Discussed but likely did not approve altering DDDs for certain antineoplastic drugs due to individualized dosing, though the process for L01 group was initiated.
