The EBA

Activities of the Traineeship

Trainees may be involved in various activities depending on their background and skills:

Liquidity Leverage Loss Absorbency and Capital Unit:
- Support regulatory work on MREL (Minimum Requirement for Own Funds and Eligible Liabilities).
- Participate in quantitative benchmarking or data analysis for MREL and IFRS9.
- Monitor MREL eligible liabilities.
- Prepare internal briefings and presentations for stakeholders.
Risk Based Metrics Unit:
- Contribute to regulatory work on credit, market, or operational risk.
- Engage in quantitative benchmarking analysis of credit risk (IRB) or market risk internal models (for candidates with econometric knowledge).
- Participate in internal committees and subgroups.
- Prepare briefings for EBA representation at meetings with external policy makers, EU institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Supervisory Review, Recovery and Resolution:
- Support the preparation of supervisory and resolution colleges.
- Engage in data analysis and monitoring.
- Participate in recovery and resolution-related training activities.
- Prepare briefings for EBA representation at external meetings.
Policy Coordination Unit:
- Contribute to the Single Rulebook Q&A process, focusing on prudential supervision and reporting issues.

Requirements

1.1 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be nationals of EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or candidate countries with pre-accession status.
Must have completed a first cycle of higher university education and obtained a full degree certificate or its equivalent by the application deadline.
Must have very good knowledge of English (at least B2 level according to CEFR).

1.2 Selection Criteria

A Master's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or Statistics, or ongoing PhD studies in these areas.
A graduate thesis related to the EBA's activities in prudential regulation and supervisory policy.
Strong drafting skills in English, with examples provided in the application (e.g., studies, presentations, articles).
Advantageous to be familiar with the EBA's role and functioning.
Demonstrated sense of responsibility, commitment, and cooperation.
Good organisation and prioritisation skills.

1.3 Application Submission

Candidates must read the relevant decisions (EBA DC 263 and EBA DC 264) before applying.
Applications must be submitted in English to EBA-Traineeship Applications@eba.europa.eu.
Required documents include:
- A Europass format CV.
- A motivation letter.
- A completed, dated, and signed eligibility criteria grid.
- Copies of diplomas or certificates for all declared studies (self-certifications are not accepted).
Applications must clearly state how the candidate meets the selection criteria and behavioural competences.
The subject line must include the reference number TR PRSP/PC 2019 and the candidate's full name.
Separate applications are required for multiple traineeship positions.
Only complete applications submitted before the deadline will be considered. Late applications are automatically rejected.
