报告摘要
The 2004 Global School-based Student Health Survey in Chile's Metropolitan Region focused on assessing health behaviors and factors among students aged 13-15 years. Conducted through a two-stage cluster sampling design with a 100% school response rate and 85% student response rate (total 2,111 participants), it measured domains such as alcohol and drug use, dietary behaviors and weight, hygiene, mental health, physical activity, protective factors, sexual behaviors, tobacco use, and unintentional injuries/violence.
Key findings showed high prevalence of alcohol consumption, with approximately 34% of students drinking in the past 30 days; drug use was around 10%, and unsafe drinking consequences affected many. Overweight and obesity rates were notable, with boys having higher obesity. Mental health issues, including loneliness and suicidal ideation, were widespread, affecting about 17-32% of students. Physical inactivity and excessive sedentary behavior were common, with most students spending over three hours per day sitting. Sexual debut occurred in 16% of students, and condom use was reported by more than half of sexually active individuals. Tobacco use and violence, such as fighting and bullying, were also significant problems.
