World Hearing Day 2021 Summary
Core Content
World Hearing Day (WHD) 2021, celebrated on 3 March 2021, focused on the theme "Hearing Care for ALL! Screen, Rehabilitate, Communicate". The event aimed to raise awareness about hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care globally, encouraging action to address these issues across the life course.
The World Health Organization (WHO) played a central role in organizing and promoting WHD 2021, launching the World Report on Hearing and conducting various activities to disseminate its key messages. The report emphasized the need to prevent hearing loss through measures such as noise protection, good ear care, and immunization, and to address it promptly with appropriate care. It also highlighted the importance of investing in cost-effective interventions and integrating person-centered ear and hearing care into national health plans to achieve universal health coverage.
