报告摘要
The Brazil - Cataguases Global Youth Tobacco Survey in 2006 assessed tobacco use among students aged 13-15 using a two-stage cluster sampling design with high response rates.
Prevalence showed that 34.2% had ever smoked cigarettes, 16.5% used any tobacco product currently, and 12.5% smoked cigarettes now.
Key determinants included high exposure to secondhand smoke (37.2% at home), strong public support for banning smoking in public places (86.2% agreed), and media influences such as anti-smoking messages seen by 89.5% and pro-cigarette ads by many students.
School-based factors included widespread teaching about smoking dangers and effects.
Overall, nearly half used tobacco, with significant SHS exposure and strong anti-smoking attitudes among youth.
