报告摘要
Mexico - Cuernavaca GYTS Summary
The Mexico - Cuernavaca Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) was conducted in 2006 among students aged 13-15, using a two-stage cluster sample design. A total of 1,549 students participated, with a high overall response rate of 80.1%. Key determinants assessed included access to tobacco, exposure to secondhand smoke, media influence, and school-based interventions.
Main findings highlight that 55.8% of students had ever smoked cigarettes, and 24.2% currently used any tobacco product. Among current users, 21.7% smoked cigarettes regularly. Knowledge and attitudes show that 85.2% believe smoking is harmful, and 87.0% support banning smoking in public places. Access to tobacco was common, with 10.3% smoking at home, and exposure to secondhand smoke was high, affecting 40.7% inside homes and 55.0% outside. Media influences included high exposure to anti-smoking messages (83.9%) but also pro-cigarette ads (87.0% seen on billboards). School aspects revealed that 73.8% learned about smoking dangers in class, and cessation efforts were low, with only 37.3% of current smokers wanting to quit, and 56.5% having tried to stop.
