报告摘要
Monthly Oil & Gas Data Review Summary: April 2024
Oil Markets:
-
Oil Demand & Production:
- Oil demand in JODI-reporting countries rose by 1.2 mb/d month-on-month (vs. January 2024), reaching a 5-year seasonal high, primarily driven by gasoline and jet fuel. Gasoline demand hit a seasonal peak.
- Diesel and LPG demand fell month-on-month, with diesel demand dropping below the 5-year average since July 2022.
- Crude oil production increased 473 kb/d month-on-month, mainly due to U.S. output rebound after weather-related interruptions. Year-on-year, crude production declined 1.2 mb/d, impacted by steep cuts in Saudi Arabia (-1.4 mb/d) and Iraq (-347 kb/d), though the U.S. added 744 kb/d.
- Saudi Arabia’s crude production reached a 7-month high at 9.01 mb/d (+55 kb/d from January) but exports rose to a 3-month high of 6.32 mb/d (+20 kb/d).
-
Inventories:
- Crude inventories increased by 17.7 mb (still 262 mb below 5-year average).
- Product inventories decreased by 2.9 mb, returning to 4.8 mb above the 5-year average.
Natural Gas Markets:
- Production & Demand:
- Natural gas production fell seasonally in February but was 7% higher than 2023 and at a seasonal high, largely due to U.S. output growth.
- Demand declined seasonally, nearing a 5-year seasonal low, with EU+UK consumption falling by ~12 bcm.
- Inventory Levels:
- Total gas inventories decreased by 14.6 bcm month-on-month, ending February at a 5-year seasonal high.
- EU+UK inventories dropped by 6.2 bcm, remaining filled at a high level (~63% of storage capacity).
Country-Specific Highlights:
- India: Oil demand reached an all-time high, while product exports hit a seasonal peak.
- China: Oil demand fell by 967 kb/d month-on-month, alongside reduced product exports and refinery runs.
Key Takeaways:
- Global oil demand recovery is uneven, with gasoline strength offsetting diesel weakness.
- Supply dynamics remain volatile, with U.S. gains counteracting cuts in major producing nations.
- Natural gas markets are influenced by seasonal trends and regional demand shocks, particularly in Europe.
