报告摘要
The 2007 Global School-based Student Health Survey in Ghana (GSHS) examined various health behaviors among students aged 13-15 years in JSS 1, 2, and 3 grades. Using a two-stage cluster sampling design, it achieved a high response rate and enrolled 6,236 students. Key areas included alcohol and drug use, dietary behaviors, hygiene, physical activity, protective factors, sexual behaviors, and violence.
Key findings:
- Alcohol use: About 28% of students had consumed alcohol at least once in the past 30 days; boys and girls showed similar rates.
- Drug use: Approximately 25% reported drug use over their lifetime.
- Dietary and hygiene habits: One-quarter of students experienced hunger; poor hygiene was common, with low rates of tooth cleaning and hand washing.
- Physical activity: Only about 13% met daily recommended activity levels, while screen time averaged 3 hours per day.
- Sexual behaviors: 25% had sexual intercourse in the past 12 months, with 60% using condoms last time.
- Violence: High rates of physical attack (over 60%), bullying, and injuries were reported.
- Protective factors: Issues included truancy and lack of positive peer support.
