报告摘要
Northwest European Hydrogen Monitor 2024 explores the current state and future outlook of low-emissions hydrogen development in Northwest Europe. The region accounts for around half of Europe's hydrogen demand and is at the forefront of hydrogen innovation. Countries in the region have set ambitious production targets, aiming for 30-40 GW of electrolyzer capacity by 2030. Policy support and regulatory frameworks, including the EU's Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Markets Package, are driving market growth. Subsidy schemes, such as auctions through the European Hydrogen Bank, are crucial for de-risking investments and stimulating demand. Infrastructure development, including hydrogen pipelines and storage facilities, is ongoing, with many projects repurposing existing natural gas infrastructure to reduce costs. Initial price assessments in 2023 show renewable hydrogen was significantly more expensive than fossil-based hydrogen, highlighting the need for further cost reductions. Potential hydrogen trade flows are increasing, facilitated by international agreements and the development of port infrastructure. By 2030, regions like Northwest Europe could see both production and trade volumes grow substantially if planned projects materialize.
