Methodology
- Employed a two-stage cluster sampling design for a representative assessment of youth tobacco use determinants in Brazil-Fortaleza.

- Over 87% of students believe secondhand smoke is harmful and support banning smoking in public places.
Knowledge, Attitudes, and Media
- Significant numbers of youth believe smoking enhances social acceptance (more friends, attractiveness).
- More than one-third of current smokers have accessed tobacco products outside regulated settings (stores, price considerations).
- Most students (89.4%) encountered anti-smoking media in the past 30 days, but were also exposed to pro-tobacco messaging (78.5% billboard ads, 60.8% in media).
- Student response regarding objects with cigarette logos and industry offers was indicated.
- School education on tobacco: 58.9% learned about smoking dangers, 54% on effects, and 38.5% discussed smoking reasons.
