The 2015 Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) in Guatemala (Rest of Country) surveyed students in grades Primero, Segundo, and Tercero basico, typically aged 13-17, using a two-stage cluster sampling method. A school response rate of 93% and student response rate of 89% resulted in 1,030 participants overall.
Key survey domains included alcohol use, dietary behaviors, drug use, hygiene, mental health, physical activity, sexual behaviors, and violence or unintentional injury.

- Drug Use: Lifetime marijuana use was low at 2.1%, with no available data on first use before age 14.
- Hygiene: Most students (94-97%) cleaned or brushed teeth daily, but 2-4% rarely washed hands after using the toilet.
- Mental Health: Approximately 16-20% considered or attempted suicide in the past 12 months, and only 5-7% had close friends.
