- Google Play Categories:
- Game category grew 14% YoY, reaching 6.9 million downloads, which was 6x the downloads of Tools, the second-largest category.
- Entertainment category experienced a 43% YoY increase, from 684 million to 978 million downloads.
- Tools was the only top five category that declined, by 1.6%.

- All download estimates are based on unique installs per user, excluding multiple device downloads, app updates, and re-installs.
- Apple apps and Google pre-installed apps are excluded from the data.
- Android estimates do not include third-party stores.
- The data covers the period from July 1 to September 30, 2017.
