报告摘要
The 2013 Tuvalu Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) Fact Sheet provides an overview of health behaviors among students aged 13-15 years in Tuvalu, focusing on key areas such as alcohol use, diet, drug use, hygiene, mental health, physical activity, protective factors, sexual behaviors, tobacco use, and violence. The survey employed a two-stage cluster sampling design, with a 100% school response rate, 90% student response rate, and 943 participants. Results show significant variations by gender: boys had higher rates of alcohol consumption (22.2% vs. 5.1% for girls), tobacco use (27.2% vs. 5.6%), and engagement in risky activities like violence. Girls exhibited lower rates in most risky behaviors but higher rates in some protective factors. Dietary issues were widespread, with high percentages of students being overweight or obese. Mental health concerns, such as suicidal ideation, were elevated among boys. Overall, the study highlights pressing public health needs in Tuvalu's youth population, including substance use prevention and improved lifestyle behaviors.
