Enablers for Accelerated Adoption: Government initiatives, clear governance frameworks, technological innovation in battery storage and charging, and enable ecosystem support such as land availability for charging stations and introduction of favorable business models can foster EV market growth.
Environmental Impact: EV adoption is projected to lead to substantial GHG emission reductions, with EVs potentially cutting lifecycle emissions by 22-79% compared to diesel or petrol vehicles. However, transitioning to green energy is crucial to maximize benefits.
World Bank's Role: The World Bank supports India's EV transition through concessional financing for battery energy storage systems (BESS), promoting green charging infrastructure, innovative financing mechanisms for e-2/3W, and technical assistance in policy, regulation, and lifecycle management.
