Summary of Beijing Urban Life Circle Monitoring Report (2023)
This report, published in January 2024 by the North Institute of Planning, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and other partners, analyzes urban life circles in Beijing using big data. The study aims to objectively and systematically present characteristics of resident behavior and life circle spatial morphology, supporting urban planning for equitable and convenient city living.

- High-traffic leisure centers are concentrated in central areas, with reach up to 9 km.
- Other centers show varying service radii and coverage, indicating spatial heterogeneity in Beijing's urban fabric.
Typical Community Analyses
- Four communities were studied: Young Lake (central area with balanced consumption and recreation), Hualongyuan (near郊区 with weaker self-sufficiency), Yizhuang (suburban industrial zone with good self-sufficiency), and Changyang (urban fringe with reliance on central services).
- Each exhibits unique life circle interactions: Young Lake shows radial patterns; Hualongyuan has strong centrality; Yizhuang is self-sufficient in job and consumption; Changyang depends more on central commuting.
