Purpose
The NCD Compact aims to accelerate progress toward NCD-related SDG targets and fulfill five specific, time-bound commitments by galvanizing action and closing the implementation gap.
Five Commitments by 2030
- Save 50 million lives from premature death due to NCDs.
- Protect 1.7 billion people living with NCDs during humanitarian emergencies, focusing on climate-vulnerable countries.
- Cover all people with quality essential health services for NCD prevention and control, integrating NCDs into primary health care (PHC) and universal health coverage (UHC).
- Implement comprehensive NCD surveillance and monitoring actions in all countries.
- Meaningfully engage 1.7 billion people living with NCDs and mental health conditions to support national responses.
Concrete Actions
Heads of State and Governments and NCD Compact signatories will take actions including:
- Engage: Collaborate with UN agencies, NGOs, private sector, and people with lived experiences.
- Accelerate: Speed up country-level implementation through best-buys and technical packages.
- Invest: Allocate resources domestically and globally, including through multilateral funds.
- Align: Integrate NCD agenda with emergency preparedness, UHC, and PHC reorientation.
- Account: Strengthen surveillance and monitoring for data-driven decision-making.
