Key Findings
-
Tobacco: Smoking prevalence is low (6.4%), higher among men. Most use is not daily. Significant concern over second-hand smoke exposure.
-
Alcohol: High rates of heavy drinking, especially among men. Consumption is increasing and exceeds healthy limits.
-
Diet: Low fruit and vegetable intake (<5 servings/day). Use of sugary drinks is common. Type of oil used varies (mostly vegetable or butter).

-
Blood Pressure: Poor control is common. Almost two-thirds (69%) have uncontrolled hypertension, despite many being diagnosed.
-
Blood Sugar: One-quarter of surveyed adults (not currently medicated) have impaired fasting glucose or are pre-diabetic.
-
Combined Risks: Almost half (49%) of the working-aged population has three or more modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, including tobacco, diet, physical inactivity, hypertension, and high blood sugar.
-
Cancer Screenings: Many women lack regular mammograms or Pap tests, though breast and cervical self-examination awareness is high. Prostate screening uptake increases with age.
