报告摘要
Summarization of Influenza B Candidate Vaccine Viruses for 2024 Southern Hemisphere Season
This report details the candidate vaccine viruses for the development and production of influenza vaccines recommended for the 2024 southern hemisphere influenza season, based on the B Victoria lineage, as determined by WHO Collaborating Centres in the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS). Antigenic and genetic analyses were performed, and all candidate vaccine viruses have passed two-way haemagglutination inhibition (HI) tests. National or regional authorities approve vaccine formulations.
Key candidate viruses include:
- B/Austria/1359417/2021 (egg-derived), with accession number EPI_ISL_1519459, sourced from institutes like MHRA (UK), NIID (Japan), and NYMC (USA).
- Other variants such as B/Michigan/01/2021 and various wild-type and classical strains from sources like CBER (FDA, USA), TGA (Australia), and CCDC (China).
Reference antigens and potency testing reagents are provided, calibrated by WHO Essential Regulatory Laboratories (ERLs), including batch numbers and sources such as NIID, MHRA, and FDA.
Institutes and essential regulatory laboratories with contact details for ordering vaccines or reagents are listed, facilitating access for development and regulatory support.
