WHO Programme Budget 2020–2021 Results Report Summary

This report assesses progress toward WHO's "triple billion targets" based on the Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 13). Key accomplishments include:

• Leading international COVID-19 vaccine procurement (ACT-Accelerator delivering 1 billion doses and tests).
• Distributing substantial resources for vaccines, oxygen, personal protective equipment, and diagnostics.
• Recommending the world's first malaria vaccine (RTS,S) in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Supporting the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis in 15 countries.
• Driving policies to reduce trans fats through global initiatives like REPLACE.

The program budget of USD 5840.4 million saw considerable financing (USD 7916 million) and implementation (USD 6640 million) generated from diverse sources, including specified voluntary contributions and emergency operations. The direct support from the WHO Secretariat to countries is crucial for results.

Looking forward, challenges require strategies emphasizing primary healthcare, equitable financing, system strengthening, and evidence-based policies. Long-term success depends on increasing sustainable resources and fostering global accountability to achieve the triple billion targets and support the overall health-related SDGs.
