Purpose

The UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund under Health4Life aims to catalyze country actions for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). Key Issues

Non-communicable diseases and mental health conditions pose a severe global burden, affecting nearly 75% of deaths globally and disproportionately hitting LMICs. High rates of preventable premature deaths (30% before age 30-69), unaddressed mental health needs, exposure to risk factors like air pollution, and ongoing inequalities harm communities and economies. COVID-19 has worsened this by straining health systems and highlighting gaps in prevention and integrated approaches.

Objectives and Implementation

• Principles: Country-led prioritization to remove bottlenecks, catalytic funding to drive impact and secure domestic resources, cross-sectoral action involving whole-government and societal efforts, equity-driven focus on vulnerable populations, and impact-oriented strategies through real-time data and policy reforms.
• Financial Target: Mobilize US$250 million over 5 years to leverage international and domestic financing for scaling proven preventive and care measures, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 3.4.
• Expected Impact: Aiming to save 39 million lives and realize US$2.7 trillion in economic benefits, fostering integrated health systems under frameworks like universal health coverage.
