报告摘要
Influenza Update Summary (WHO, October 2, 2023)
Global Situation
- Influenza detections remained low globally based on surveillance data up to 17 September 2023.
- The predominant influenza A subtypes were A(H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2), with some circulation of influenza B/Victoria.
- National Influenza Centres reported data from 107 countries: 6247 influenza A cases (80.37%) and 1526 B cases (19.63%), with 28.87% A(H1N1)pdm09 and 71.13% A(H3N2).
Recommendations
- Countries advised to monitor co-circulation of influenza and SARS-CoV-2 through integrated surveillance and report data to RespiMART (FluNet and FluID) directly or via regional platforms.
- Clinicians should include influenza in differential diagnosis for high-risk groups and adhere to national and WHO guidelines for testing and treatment.
- WHO encourages integrated surveillance, especially in countries with GISRS reagent kits.
Regional Breakdown
- Oceania: Influenza activity decreased; A and B viruses cocirculated. New Zealand and Pacific Islands saw low activity.
- Southern Africa: Activity below seasonal threshold; B/Victoria lineage increased slightly.
- Temperate South America: Detections low; A and B viruses cocirculating, except in Chile where positivity was elevated.
- Caribbean and Central America: Influenza activity low; B and A(H1N1)pdm09 predominant in Central America.
- Tropical Africa (Western, Middle, Eastern): Activity low overall, but Western Africa showed increases in A and A(H1N1)pdm09 detections.
- Southern Asia and South-East Asia: Low activity in Southern Asia; South-East Asia had elevated but decreasing influenza activity with A predominant.
- Northern Hemisphere (temperate zones): Low influenza indicators; Europe and North America reported low activity, with some COVID-19 mortality noted.
Other Viruses
- SARS-CoV-2 surveillance showed slight decreases in positivity (around 10% or less globally), except in some regions.
- RSV activity was generally low where surveillance was available.
- Limited country reporting affects data completeness; detailed insights in regional WHO reports.
