Global Shapers Community Annual Report 2022-2023

Mission: To inspire, empower, and connect young leaders to strengthen communities and effect global change. Established in 2011, it now has over 10,616 members in 514 city-based Hubs across 154 countries.
Key Priorities: Amplify young voices, promote inclusion, combat climate change, drive ethical innovation, and address basic needs.

Achievements:

• Surpassed 500 Hubs, opened 90 new centers in 12 months.
• Reached over 185,000 people through Hub projects and 1.2 million via awareness campaigns.
• Trained 900 climate leaders, supported 100+ climate projects.
• Provided digital literacy and job training in 100+ cities, reducing youth unemployment.
• Responded to crises (e.g., floods, droughts) by delivering aid and sustainable solutions.

Actions for Inclusion:

• Advanced gender equity, supported LGBTQI+ rights, and empowered marginalized groups.
• Increased civic engagement: e.g., youth assemblies in Philippines, peace advocacy in Mexico.

Youth Advocacy:

• 610 young members integrated into decision-making spaces; 180 had speaking roles at global forums.
• Participated in the WEF Annual Meeting 2023 and APEC, advocating for policy changes and intergenerational parity.

Future Plans:

• Twin Cities Initiative for cross-Hub collaboration.
• Expanded SHAPE regional events (e.g., climate resiliency in South Asia).
