报告摘要
Mali has a total population of 17.6 million and is classified as a low-income country with significant diabetes-related mortality. Diabetes deaths among males and females aged 30-69 are 640 and 750, respectively, and increase to 510 and 770 among those aged 70+. This high mortality has high uncertainty due to lack of national NCD data. Other leading causes of death include cardiovascular diseases (8% in males, 11% in females), cancers, injuries, and respiratory diseases.
Diabetes prevalence is 5.5% in males, 4.5% in females, and 5.0% overall, with high rates of overweight (22%) and physical inactivity (21%) as key risk factors.
National policies include an operational diabetes strategy and guidelines, but no plan to reduce overweight/obesity. Diabetes registry and referral standards are established and implemented, though no recent risk factor survey measured blood glucose. Available diabetes medicines and technologies in the public sector include insulin and metformin, but services like renal replacement therapy are limited.
