报告摘要
Jordan's economy navigated external shocks through fiscal consolidation and monetary policy tightening, but faced persistent low growth averaging 2.2% over 2012-2022. Growth accelerated to 2.7% in H1-2023 mainly from services, supported by travel receipts recovery. However, labor market outcomes remain subdued, with FLFP declining to 13.8% and overall unemployment persisting at 22.3%. Structural barriers, informal employment, safety concerns, and limited access to childcare/public transport constrain women’s economic participation. Key recommendations include: reforming labor law, expanding quality and affordable childcare, enhancing public transport safety/safety, and targeted social protection. Improving these areas could increase FLFP by 2-7%, boosting growth and human capital outcomes.
