报告摘要
Bolivia - La Paz Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) summary:
This survey, conducted in 2003 and focused on 13-15 year-olds, used a two-stage cluster sampling method with high response rates (87.3% overall). Key findings include high prevalence of tobacco use, such as 41.3% ever smoked cigarettes and 20.8% currently using any tobacco product, with boys having higher rates than girls. Secondhand smoke exposure is widespread, affecting 34.3% of students in smoke homes and 52.9% in other settings, while over 80% believe smoking should be banned in public places. Knowledge and attitudes show students are aware of tobacco hazards, but are influenced by pro-tobacco media and advertisements. Cessation efforts are present, with 25% of never smokers likely to initiate smoking. School programs, such as teaching about smoking dangers, reached many students. This data highlights the need for comprehensive tobacco control interventions.
