Malaysia's national immunization coverage estimates for 2021, developed by WHO and UNICEF, reflect near-universal vaccination for key childhood vaccines, though certain cautions regarding data reliability are noted. The estimates include:

BCG: Coverage has maintained high levels (typically ≥96% since 2018) based on national administrative data; recommendations for high-quality surveys exist.

MCV1/MCV2 (Measles/Rubella): MCV1 coverage has been sustained above 94% for many years. MCV2 estimates are frequently based on first dose data and have shown declines but remain generally high. Rubella-containing vaccines estimates are aligned with measles estimates where local data lacks.

HepB: Birth dose coverage has been stable (e.g., ~95%) primarily via administrative data; newer vaccines like HepB3 and Hib3 have also seen widespread coverage (~93%+) though dependent on source data and age assessment.

Survey Data: The estimates were supported by a 2014 National Health Morbidity Survey which informed several assessments. No updated national surveys have been conducted within recent years, and WHO/UNICEF recommend this to ensure vaccination data validity.
Data note: While estimates are generally high with many in the 95-98%+ range, assessment cautions regarding data sources (mostly administrative or estimated) have been issued repeatedly urging higher-quality survey-based data for confirmation.
