报告摘要
Biodiversity conservation is vital for ecological stability, human well-being, and economic progress, providing essential ecosystem services like clean water, food, and climate regulation. However, biodiversity faces unprecedented threats from habitat destruction, overexploitation, pollution, invasive species, illegal trade, and climate change, accelerating extinction rates to 1000 times the natural baseline. Effective conservation requires urgent global action, particularly in geopolitically sensitive areas such as non-determined legal status territories, fragile and conflict-affected situations, transboundary river basins, and marine joint regimes, where weak governance, enforcement issues, and instability hinder efforts.
This paper uses data from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and advanced mapping techniques to analyze species occurrences, endemism, and extinction risks across these regions. Key findings reveal that these areas host numerous critical species, including endemic and high-risk species, often concentrated in transboundary and conflict-prone zones. Reliable and comparable data are essential for evidence-based planning, monitoring conservation progress, and fostering international cooperation among governments, industries, and communities, especially for building trust and addressing shared goals like climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
The study underscores that GBIF data can significantly enhance biodiversity protection by providing objective information for policy interventions, transboundary agreements, and peacebuilding initiatives. Results highlight gaps in data coverage and governance, emphasizing the need for strengthened frameworks, increased data accessibility, and expanded focus to include understudied groups like invertebrates and plants. Ultimately, harnessing reliable data is crucial for mitigating biodiversity loss, supporting peace, and ensuring sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
