Global Respiratory Virus Activity Summary (Week 4, Ending 2025-01-26)

Influenza

• Northern Hemisphere: Elevated influenza activity persists in numerous regions, including Europe (all subtypes), North America (mostly A), Central America and Caribbean (mostly A(H3N2)), Tropical South America, Western Africa (mostly B), Northern Africa and Asia (mostly A(H1N1)pdm09). Activity increased in most of Europe, parts of Asia, and one country each in Central America/Caribbean and Northern Africa.
• Southern Hemisphere: Elevated activity observed in Eastern Africa (mostly B), Melanesia and South-East Asia (mostly A(H1N1)pdm09). Activity rose in one Eastern African country; activity declined or remained stable elsewhere. ge variability noted.

SARS-CoV-2

• Elevated activity remains in some countries in South America, Eastern/Southern Africa and South Asia. Increased activity noted in one country in Central America. Most countries show stable or declining trends.
