Global Respiratory Virus Activity (Week 17, 28 Apr 2024)

Influenza

• Northern Hemisphere: Activity generally declining; elevated activity observed in Central America, Caribbean (Influenza A dominant), Eastern Europe, Western Asia (Influenza B dominant).
• Southern Hemisphere:
  • South America reported elevated activity, mostly Influenza A.
  • Southern Africa reported elevated and increasing activity (both A and B viruses).

SARS-CoV-2

• Overall activity reported from 70 countries is low.
• Elevated but steady activity reported in parts of Western and Southern Africa, Western and Southern Asia.
• Increases noted in Northern Africa, Southern Asia, and Southeast Asia.
