Fiscal Cliff Deal Pessimism Continues

In a December 2012 survey by Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, 40% of adults expected an agreement between President Obama and Republicans in Congress to avoid fiscal cliff measures by January 1. Conversely, 49% anticipated no deal, with little change in public opinion since November, as negotiations began. Democrats were more optimistic (51% expected agreement), while Republicans and independents expressed greater pessimism. The survey involved 1,006 participants and had a margin of error, but results showed no significant shift over time.
