报告摘要
The public focused primarily on the outcomes of the midterm elections and the economy in November 2010. News Interest Index surveys showed that roughly half (53%) perceived economic news as mixed, with a higher proportion (41%) seeing mostly bad news. This shift occurred between July 2010 and the current survey, indicating a more pessimistic view. Public interest in the cruise ship incident and President Obama’s trip to Asia was lower than for the economy or elections. Republicans were more likely to follow the Bush book release closely but held primarily negative views of the economy. Media coverage of the election outcomes dropped compared to the week that included Election Day, primarily due to automation.
