In the Northern Hemisphere, influenza activity remained elevated across many regions, with predominant strains including influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 in North America and Asia, A(H3N2) in Central America and Northern Africa, and influenza B in Tropical South America. Activity increased in parts of North America, North Africa, Europe, and Western Asia compared to the previous week.
In the Southern Hemisphere, influenza activity was elevated in a few Eastern African countries, South-East Asia, and Oceania (mostly A(H1N1)pdm09), but decreased in several reporting countries relative to the prior report.
Globally, SARS-CoV-2 activity was generally low, with a few exceptions showing elevated cases in parts of Central and South America and Eastern Africa.
