Global Respiratory Virus Activity Summary
Influenza
- In the Northern Hemisphere, elevated influenza activity persisted across multiple regions: North America (predominantly A(H1N1)pdm09), Central America and Caribbean, Tropical South America (primarily A(H1N1)pdm09 and B), Northern, Western, and Eastern Africa, and all parts of Europe. Activity increased in some Central American and Caribbean nations, as well as in Northern, Western, and Eastern Africa, with mixed trends in Tropical South America, Europe, and Asia.
- In the Southern Hemisphere, influenza activity was elevated in a few Eastern African and South-East Asian countries and multiple Oceania countries, but overall levels remained stable or decreased.
SARS-CoV-2
- Globally, SARS-CoV-2 activity was generally low, with some increases reported in a few countries in Central America, Caribbean, Tropical and Temperate South America, and Oceania. No widespread elevations were noted.
