Haiti Cervical Cancer Profile Summary

Morbidity and Mortality

• Cervical cancer incidence in 2020: crude rate 10.2 per 100,000 women, age-standardized rate 11.6 per 100,000 women; cumulative risk by age 0-74 was 1.2%.
• Deaths in 2019: 50,000 among females; mortality-to-incidence ratio 0.75 in 2020.
• National cancer registry exists as of 2021.

Primary Prevention

• HPV vaccination: programme introduced in 2007, target cohort females aged 9-14; coverage among girls was 59% for first dose and 20% for final dose in 2020; not included in national vaccination schedule.
• Programme coverage among 9-14-year-old girls was 59% in 2020; no data for female HPV testing at age 15.
• Risk factors: tobacco use prevalence 3.3% in 2020; HIV incidence low, but limited data.

Secondary Prevention

• No national screening programme for cervical cancer as of 2021.
• Primary screening test used is cytology-based for high-performing tests by age 35 and 45.
